created during the art deco period from 1920 to 1939, this silver-plated "sheffield" tray is actually a trophy, reproduced from a model with vine branches and swirled edges from the neo-rococo to victorian periods (18th to 19th centuries) in the united kingdom.

commissioned by r.w. Wright to serve as a prize at the 1935 fairfield horse show (races or competitions) in connecticut, usa, it has come to us in france: its former owner was a descendant of the winner of the prize, and brought it with her to her vacation home in france. She has since parted with it, and this tray is before you, ready to be collected.

the fairfield horse shows are still in existence since 1923. This trophy is in very good condition. Produced by s.p. Copper, it is a copper tray covered with a silver plate in a neo-rococo or victorian style. It is a beautiful piece of american horse racing history, which can be used as a tray for a tasteful table setting, or displayed as a trophy in a display case.
