One of the few French artists to have studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau under Kandinsky and Klee, Germain developed a lyrical yet disciplined approach to abstraction. In this work, sweeping strokes of black ink are balanced with finer lines, creating a dynamic rhythm of movement and stillness. The composition reveals his Bauhaus-trained sense of structure while embodying the spontaneity and freedom of lyrical abstraction.
