The chairs … Read more A set of four victorian mahogany dining chairs with fine embroidery work floral seat cushions and back rests. The chairs exhibit a shaped cresting rail with carved ears over a chippendale style splat, pierced and carved with scrolls and interlocking lozenge. Raised on shapely sabre legs with square supports. The seat cushions and backrests were embroidered by mrs margaret robson alumni of the prestigious glasgow school of arts in 1938. Each delicately embroidered seat cushion and back are unique with different stich used to create the patterns. Sun bleached in some areas and not in others adds to the feel of this truly fine set of country house dining chairs. In excellent condition and held in the same family collection for over one hundred years. Scottish, circa 1835.
