An elegant, modestly sized Dutch modernist table, exemplifying the refined geometry and architectural clarity of early 20th-century Haagse School design. Executed in richly toned mahogany, the piece features a bold round top supported by three vertical planes intersecting a cylindrical plinth. The design is somewhat reminiscent of the work of architect Hendrik Wouda, one of the key figures of Haagse School and Dutch modernism.
We found out that the table was actually made by a Waddinxveen based furniture maker called ''Van Ojen'', the designer being H. Kempkes jr. (see in last picture footage of this factory)
Compact yet impactful, the table is versatile - serving equally well as a side table or occasional accent. Its clean lines and interplay of geometric forms also reflect the influence of De Stijl and the disciplined elegance of Haagse School modernism.
While rooted in the 1920s modernist ideals, this piece remains highly adaptable, harmonizing beautifully with both classic and modern interiors. Its architectural character makes it a striking accent for contemporary styling.
The table is veneered in mahogany - this particular type of mahogany is not listed under CITES and is therefore allowed for US import.
