19th Century Arabian Hand Made Mesh Silver Dagger
This piece appears to be what is called a khanjar. It is a type of traditional dagger from Oman and other parts of the Middle East. It is a ceremonial dagger that is a symbol of masculinity and status in Omani culture. The blade is short and curved, with a medial ridge that is designed for stabbing rather than slashing. The sheath is typically made of wood and covered with finely crafted silver or other metalwork, often featuring intricate filigree or embossed designs. This scabbard, like many, is crescent-shaped.
The dagger and its sheath are both highly decorated with silver overlays and fine wirework.
