The large garnets are … Read more These beautiful Georgian Revival earrings feature stunning mandarin garnets collet set in silver and 18k gold. The large garnets are approximately five carats each and are modified cushion cuts, with a beautiful elongated rectangular table on the top of the stone. The stones are deep and reflective, with a burnt red color that is enhanced by the stones’ depth. The collet setting is silver, backed with 18k gold, and the earring wire is 18k gold. This type of setting was used during the Georgian Era. The silver has a patina that adds a nice antique look to the piece. The larger stones give the earrings presence on the ear.

Mandarin garnets are rare, highly-valued, and very desirable gemstones, mainly sourced from Nigeria and Namibia. Manganese within the stone’s composition gives it its orange hue.

Each of the two natural mandarin garnets measures approximately 11.4 x 7.8 x 6.6 mm, for a carat weight of 5 carats. Combined, the earrings contain approximately 10 carats of mandarin garnets. The stones have a few slight abrasions to the facets that are only visible under a loop.

The earrings measure 13/16” from the top of the wire to the bottom of the earrings, and have a width of 7/16. Combined, they weigh 4.45 grams. Unmarked, but acid test as 18k gold and silver. See less
