Large Early 20th Century French Bronze Figure of a Maiden Signed Pollet
The sculpture depicts a nude female figure with a drape of fabric around her waist, posing with her arms raised and her hands resting on the back of her head. This posture suggests an awakening or a moment of reflection. The sculpture has been produced in various sizes and is considered a prime example of 19th-century French figurative bronze work.
Édouard-Louis Collet was a Swiss artist and sculptor, born in 1876 and active until his death in 1957 or 1961. He is primarily known for his bronze sculptures, which often depict elegant female nudes in a style that spans the Neoclassical and Art Deco periods.
