Chinese porcelain auspicious elephant pair, a matching, a pair of red glazed, saddled elephants, finely carved and detailed with gold highlights on the tusks, legs, snouts, ears and the bells of their saddle harnesses. The saddles are colored in opposite blue and turquoise glazes, each having a hole at the top for incense, surrounded by an umber circle with gold vines. A gold, six character, Qianlong, reign mark in Zhuanshu script is glazed to the underside of both elephants. The finely carved, Chinese live edge hongmu plinth is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
