The saddles are colored in opposite blue and turquoise glazes, each having a hole at the top for incense, surrounded by an umber circle with gold vines. A gold, six character, Qianlong, reign mark in Zhuanshu script is glazed to the underside of both elephants. The finely carved, Chinese live edge hongmu plinth is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
