Chein & Company in Harrison, New Jersey, this vintage wind-up toy depicts a boy riding an alligator. A wound-up clockwork key powers the alligator forward with its mouth opening and closing somewhat menacingly. The boy, astride and bouncing on the back of the reptile in motion, is attired in tropical garb complete with a belt ornamented by animal teeth. He’s in charge for the moment, grasping the original string reins to control the alligator's flapping jaws, all in working order. See less
