Bronze bust of William I, Prince of Orange (1533-1584)
William the Silent was a key leader in the Dutch Revolt against Spanish rule, which ultimately led to the formal independence of the United Provinces in 1648, earning him the title "Father of the Fatherland" in the Netherlands. The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam holds a similar bust of William of Orange, which is based on the portrait featured on his tomb in the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft.
The bust in the image reflects the artistic styles of the period, likely a nod to Renaissance forms combined with the realism characteristic of Dutch art of that era.
