Inspired by Arthurian legend's of Perceval and the Fisher King who's the last in a long line of British kings tasked with guarding the Holy Grail. The Fisher King is both the protector and the physical embodiment of his lands, but a wound renders him impotent and his kingdom barren. Artist Eileen Rogoff (South African/Australian, b. 1941), circa 1980, interpretation displays a child tending to the land and his right arm cut off possibly symbolizing a catastrophic wound.

Eileen Rogoff was born in South Africa and established herself as an artist before moving to Australia and established an art school in Sydney in 1983 where she, along with her artist daughter hold classes in still life, landscape, abstract art, portrait, figure, animals and life drawing. They teach oil painting, acrylics, watercolor, drawing media, pastels, inks, mixed media and also small sculpture.
