Dating ca. 1900, this petite painted Restauration style chest of drawers has distinctive carved moldings evoking bamboo, creating drawer front panels and other details in a soft green on an antiqued cream ground. The turret corners and turned feet evoke earlier 19th century French furniture from the Empire and Restauration period. The construction includes dovetailed drawers and a paneled back. The painted finish has been nicely refreshed in a cream strié. There are signs of age and distress from earlier layers of paint which give character to the piece. The white marble top is later, has scuffing surface wear. Very attractive fresh green paper drawer liners are in all four drawers.
