Powerful yet delicate painting on paper, signed on recto, and framed in an antique French solid wood and gesso frame. Wired to hang horizontally, with a sawtooth to hang vertically.
Christina Kwan is an emerging Atlanta-based artist known for an array of abstract and floral works on paper as well as large scale murals. After receiving her BFA in Drawing at University of Florida, she moved to Atlanta to pursue a creative career. The work she creates now is an ongoing exploration of her Asian-American identity and the societal condition of feeling incomplete, existing in-between. Calligraphic brush strokes obliquely refer to her ancestral heritage, acting as a yearning for permanence in a search for wholeness. Ready to hang horizontally but can be hung in any direction.
A one-of-a-kind piece from an artist to watch.

The frame and glass are in very good vintage condition. There are scratches, losses, and discolorations in the frame and some shredding of the frame visible on the matte, all as pictured. Please zoom in. The contemporary yet ancient painting works really well with the old frame. This is not a piece for the art collector who enjoys perfection. Measurements are approximate. Ready to hang. less
