* Joachim Albrecht (* September 5, 1913 in Kolberg; † April 9, 1997 in Hamburg) was a German artist and an important representative of Constructive Art. He studied at the Königsberg Art Academy. In 1953, he made his first screen prints; in 1957, he became a member of the German Artists' Association. He is considered one of the most prominent artists of the Concrete-Constructive movement in the second half of the last century. Under the influence of Auguste Herbin and Victor Vasarely, Albrecht developed his style in the early 1960s, which recognized the surface as an independent space. As a member of the "Neue gruppe Hamburg" (New Hamburg Group) around Willy Breest, he received the Edwin Scharff Prize from the Hanseatic City of Hamburg in 1964. from 1966 onward, Joachim Albrecht was a professor at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts. There, he supported artists of all styles. Thus, Joachim Albrecht also had a decisive influence on artists such as Max Hermann Mahlmann, Winfried Gaul, and Timm Ulrichs.
