A striking pair of Italian giltwood wall brackets or shelves, carved in bold relief with stylized scallop shell motifs, attributed to the celebrated Venetian workshop of Palladio. Dating to the 1960s, each bracket showcases a deeply fluted shell with a curled base, supported by a shaped backplate with molded edges and a gently serpentine form.

The design references classical and Baroque precedents, with the scallop shell—a traditional emblem of pilgrimage and rebirth—serving as a sculptural focal point. The gilt finish is richly burnished with a mellow patina, accentuating the carved detailing and lending a warm luster that reflects light beautifully.

Executed in hand-carved wood and finished in antique gold leaf, the brackets are both decorative and functional. Each is fitted with brass hanging loops and felted feet for wall protection. Marked on the underside “R 102,” further suggesting Palladio manufacture.

A sophisticated accent for flanking a mirror, doorway, or artwork—perfect for classical, Hollywood Regency, or Mediterranean Revival interiors.
