A graceful 19th-century Chinese celadon-glazed porcelain vase, later mounted in France with finely cast gilt bronze ormolu and converted into a lamp. The vase is of classic baluster form, tapering elegantly from its rounded shoulder to a narrow foot, and finished in a luminous celadon glaze prized for its subtle crackle and soft, jade-green hue. The porcelain rests on a pierced ormolu base of scrolling acanthus leaves, detailed with neoclassical refinement.

Mirrored ormolu putti are mounted to either side of the vase, each in an identical pose: seated with knees drawn up, one arm resting casually while the other reaches across the torso in a gesture of gentle introspection. Their harmonious symmetry enhances the overall balance of the design, lending the piece a contemplative elegance.

Now wired as a lamp, the composition stands 20 inches high to the socket, 17 inches to the top of the putti, and 15 inches to the vase. The vase measures 7 inches in diameter and rests on a 5-inch diameter base.
