A rare and elegantly engineered silver-plated adjustable wine caddy or bottle stand, attributed to Mappin & Webb, with hallmarks including the maker’s stamp M&W, model number 5990, and British patent registration No. 432812. Dating to the transitional period between late Victorian and early Edwardian design (circa 1900–1910), this piece exemplifies a fusion of mechanical utility and refined ornament.

The pierced gallery collar adjusts to four heights—6", 8", 8.25", and 9"—to accommodate a range of wine or Champagne bottles. The angular side handle allows for easy, stable pouring, while the circular base tray (3.90" diameter) features a raised rim and engraved “D” monogram.
