Park graduated from the Pratt Institute in New York in 1966. Once he was commissioned to paint murals in California, his portraits and other paintings began selling throughout Europe and the US.
Whether realistic portrait or abstract imagery, Harvey Parks' work is highly distinctive. Though his color palette has shifted somewhat in recent years, Park's work remains imaginative, provocative and often troubling.
