The figure is depicted in a long brocaded gown of dark patterned fabric, trimmed with fur along the hem. The bodice is cut with a white collar opening onto a blue undergarment, accentuated by a vivid red sash tied at the waist. Around her neck she wears a beaded necklace, reflecting the refinement of Burgundian court fashion. The headdress is particularly striking: a tall red hennin overlaid with a white veil, draped and folded into stylized angular forms. Such headgear, characteristic of the early 15th century, conveyed status and courtly sophistication. The combination of rich textile patterns, fur details, and layered accessories demonstrates the sumptuous style favored in the entourage of Isabeau of Bavaria (1370–1435), Queen of France as wife of Charles VI. This print was first published in the celebrated *Galerie Française de Femmes Célèbres* (Paris, 1827), with designs by Louis-Marie Lanté and engraving by Georges Jacques Gatine. The present example is from a ca. 1900 reissue, which reintroduced these historical costume portraits to collectors and scholars of fashion history. Condition report: Very good, with strong hand-coloring and clean paper. Margins wide, only slight age-toning consistent with date. Blank verso. Framing tips: Ideally framed in a gilt or dark wooden moulding with a wide ivory or cream mount. A secondary mat in red or blue would highlight the sash and undergown, enhancing the decorative appeal.
