Late 19th to Early 20th-Century Chinese Hand-Painted Porcelain Bowl with Celadon Interior
A charming hand-painted porcelain bowl dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1891–1920), likely produced in Jingdezhen, China, the legendary porcelain capital.
The exterior is decorated with a joyful scene of playful goats among flowering plants, painted in soft overglaze enamels of green, aubergine, blue, and yellow. Inside, the bowl is finished with a beautiful celadon-green glaze, inspired by classic Song dynasty wares.
The underside bears the red “CHINA” stamp, used on export ceramics beginning in 1891, confirming its early date and link to the first generation of Chinese porcelain exported under international trade laws. The scalloped “lotus” rim adds elegance and movement to the form, while the folk-style brushwork gives it warmth and character
