This finely potted example is hand-painted with naturalistic sprays of flowers, butterflies, and insects, scattered across a crisp white ground with moulded rim details picked out in blue and gilt.

marked with the faint impressed “nant garw c.w.” visible under close inspection, this piece represents the pinnacle of british porcelain production. Nantgarw’s exceptionally translucent body and refined decoration are regarded among the finest achievements in european porcelain of the regency period.
