This work depicts a woman in period dress and turban-like head covering, carrying a bundle under her arm. Alva was renowned in the 1960s–70s for creating high-quality licensed reproductions for major museums, casting works in plaster/resin with patinated finishes that mimic bronze.

The piece is stamped and marked on the base, and retains its original DIA label on the underside. Mounted to its original wood base.
