The staid architecture is typical of the genre, with no figurative carved elements or metal mounts to create an understated elegance. The crown presides over a bonnet defined by molding and centered with a circular molding trim that is repeated on the surface of what appears to be a drawer between the upper glazed display tier and the lower cabinet, but is in fact the face of a pull-out desk surface that, when opened, reveals a writing surface and four interior drawers surrounding a cubby hole, the drawers being faced with yet another highly exotic and figured veneer. Doors below open to reveal cavernous storage, while the upper doors are set with hand-rolled glass for display, and easy access to the original adjustable shelves. Perfect for adding classical style without being pretentious!
