The piece is made of solid wood (I believe it's Elm) with inset drawers and stunning bronze/bronze finished hardware. I was told that this cabinet was made as an herbal medicine, apothecary storage chest. I love so many things about this piece - I love the clean lines, the details of the short, angular feet, the hardware and the grain of the wood. I cleaned it very well, but did not polish it. I personally love the light wear around the top edges and bottom. It is a very solid piece and extremely versatile. Please note the wonderful construction details on the top. See less
