Its quite difficult to know where to start with this interesting little table as it really is incredibly unusual indeed. It is absolutely not a design which we have seen anything like before and to be honest the way that it all fits together, whilst ingenius, is also not from any cabinet making textbook and we would imagine that the table is the creation of one extremely talented individual in rural France with some time on his hands.
That table is incredibly charming due to a variety of factors. One of those factors is the beautiful figured elm which it is constructed from which has taken on the most lovely colour and surface and helps make the table incredibly decorative indeed. Another element of charm is the slightly rudimentary design and the fact that due to natural wood shrinkage and movement over the years the top of the table when fitted together is no longer perfectly flush to say the least, with each little flap going off in its own direction.
That said the table is incredibly sturdy and more than functional as none of the uneven bits are sloping or anything like that, so its easy to use the table as a surface for whatever purpose one requires.
As with all items which we offer for sale this little table has been inspected by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being placed on sale, so as to ensure it is in its very best possible condition and ready for immediate placement within the home.
This particular little table is a personal favourite of mine to be honest, it just oozes character and charm and is of a design which I have never quite seen the like of before. I cannot wait to see it go to a good home where it will be loved, cherished and used.
