Elegant black and yellow Italian blown glass vase from the 1970s.
It features a circular base that rises in a curved shape and winds upward, narrowing and widening to the mouth of the vase. The chromatic design is defined by intense yellow spots on the lustrous black base of the piece. These spots adapt to the shape of the vase itself, narrowing and widening accordingly. It is an ideal decorative accessory for any space in the home where you want to add a touch of luxury, a piece that exalts Italian craftsmanship and good taste.
The technique of glassblowing is one of the oldest and most refined forms of glassworking. It is estimated to have been developed by Syrian artisans in the 1st century BC and quickly spread throughout the Roman Empire. It consists of heating a mass of glass until it becomes viscous, and then blowing it through a metal reed to form a bubble that can be molded into a wide variety of shapes. The artisan controls the expansion of the glass through their breath and precise movements, sometimes assisted by molds or wooden and metal tools to shape the piece.
There are two main variants: free-blowing, in which the piece is molded solely by the skill of the glassmaker, and mold-blowing, which allows for more regular shapes. This technique allows the production of unique objects such as jugs, goblets, vases, or sculptures of great beauty and uniqueness. Furthermore, the glass can be enriched with mineral colorants or synthetic dyes in the form of veins, inclusions, or hot-applied decorations. Blown glass is highly valued in both the artistic and artisanal fields for its combination of technical precision, powerful expressiveness, and significant historical and artisanal traditions.
