Handcrafted turned wood bowl. Popular in America in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Baking yeast breads was a daily chore. These dough bowls were ideal for proofing bread before kneading and baking. This bowl has many turn ridges and a wide collar for easy handling. Rises and dips in the height of the rim add charm and are typical of handmade wood items. Amazing patina. No structural damage.
The bowl measures about 20 1/2 inches in diameter and about 7 inches tall. We've been collecting these bowls for years and this is the largest one we've found and the condition is outstanding.
