Crafted in the 1970-80s, this mid-century this well constructed and beautifully designed race-track shaped coffee table features a rich burl … Read more Crafted in the 1970-80s, this mid-century this well constructed and beautifully designed race-track shaped coffee table features a rich burl wood veneer top with a glossy finish that highlights its intricate wood grain. The Asian-inspired silhouette, with its gracefully curved legs and solid wood frame with stretcher base reflects the exceptional craftsmanship by its make Gordon's Fine Furniture of Johnson City, Tennessee. It took a bit of online sleuthing but we found that there was a proprietary antiqued brass escutcheon attached by two carpentry nails on the corners of the tables' apron'. after seeing similar items that had physical resemblance we found the same metal plate affixed to many of the pieces that were credited as made by Gordon's.. (see photos). We were rewarded to learn that Gordon's was a highly respected maker who was admitted to the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame in the late 1980s after being acquired by Thomasville when Charles Gordon retired in 1992.

This solid wood table is a great statement piece for any vintage or Asian-style interior or as a sophisticated element for an eclectic ambience. See less
