I've been a devoted fan of handpainted porcelain for many years and love pieces that are combined with gilt bronze, … Read more I've been a devoted fan of handpainted porcelain for many years and love pieces that are combined with gilt bronze, as this Meissen plate nestled in an elegant basket adorned with acanthus leaves and Empire motifs. The plate actually has a scalloped edge, but you can only see it from the underside. Pictures 8, 9 and 10 are all different, each one showing cascading blue scales terminating in flowers. I also photographed all three feet of the gilt bronze basket (refer to pictures 11, 12 and 13). The underside of the plate is marked with the crossed swords (refer to picture 15) and two incised numbers, 1 and 4 (refer to picture 16). This Meissen centerpiece is in remarkably good condition with only minimal wear to the porcelain plate. The gilt bronze basket has areas of verdigris caused by oxidation.

I photographed this Meissen centerpiece outside on a sunny day for maximum exposure. It will invariably look different when viewed in an interior under artificial light. Please take this into consideration when matching colors for your decor.
