A rare East German (GDR) hand-blown & painted glass ornament depicting a spaceman, produced c. 1960s–1970s during the Space Race era. These novelty themes reflect Cold War-era pride in Soviet and East German space achievements. Unusual among standard Christmas forms, the spaceman has strong appeal for collectors of both ornaments and space memorabilia.
