Granada is a city in Spain, in the Adalusia region by the Sierra Nevada mountains. It was formerly occupied by the Moors before conquered by the catholic Spanish royals in 1492. Granada is full of medieval architecture, royal palaces, lavish gardens, etc.
These bookends seem to represent the people of the Moorish era (possibly ) due to the hairdress they each wear.
