The delicate cloisonné technique, in which thin metal wires separate the colorful enamel cells, gives this piece its signature jewel-like finish.

Crafted on a solid copper base, the plate’s refined workmanship and floral design are highly consistent with the style and quality of pieces produced by the Ando Cloisonné Company of Nagoya, Japan, a renowned maker of Japanese cloisonné from the late 1800s through the mid-20th century. While this particular piece is unmarked and sold without original packaging, it likely dates to the 1940s–1960s, when Ando was actively producing high-quality export wares for Western markets.
