Gouache on paper. Each design is a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted work. The designs were painted in gouache on a rag paper that has a fine grid printed on it - this is for reading the design to translate it into a jacquard woven pattern. Most have notations on the back with the date, the dyes used, and the customer it was created for.

This large design is for a woven tapestry. It could be used much like a portion of antique scenic wallpaper. The design is on 4 vertical panels of paper. For photographing the design we have used pins to attach it to the wall - where the panels meet and overlap there may be a thin strip below with numbers used in the manufacture of the piece.

The designs have age and as such, show some toning to the paper and wear at the edges. We carefully clean the surface, and repair any tears with an archival linen tape. The designs are shipped rolled in a tube with tissue protection. See less
