Robert Baranet, (1925-2001), was born in Philadelphia and studied at the renowned Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts(PAFA), as well as was a private student and protege of Dr. Albert Barnes, at The Barnes Foundation, in Merion, PA.Baranet also studied abroad on a merit scholarship at The Grand Chaumier Paris.
