An evocative late 20th-century interpretation of the historic English Knole sofa, this 90-inch four-seat design was acquired in 1999. Its bold tapestry upholstery, patterned with medallions, offers both texture and vibrancy, while tall turned finials mark each corner with sculptural grace. The fabric was from Decorators walk. The previous owner stated that the frame was purchased for 6,000.00 but could not remember the name of the manufacturer. It is from a house in Los Gatos, California.
True to its 17th-century inspiration, the high back and arms create an enveloping form, softened here by a tailored skirt.
