A fine-quality antique Victorian mahogany pedestal desk, dating from the late 19th century, with a rich patina and original charm. This traditional piece has a rectangular top inset with a hand-tooled red leather writing surface, bordered with gilt decoration and framed by figured hardwood banding. The leather retains its original character, showing an aged, well-used surface that enhances the desk’s authenticity and appeal. The desk features a classic arrangement of nine drawers – three to each pedestal and three across the frieze – all finished with original brass ring pulls and working locks (key not included). The drawer construction, with hand-cut dovetails, attests to its 19th-century craftsmanship. Each pedestal stands on a plinth base, offering strength and stability. This is a genuine Victorian piece of furniture, substantial and practical, with the desirable feature of being a breakfront design, allowing the top to separate from the pedestals for easier transport. Its warm hardwood tones and timeless form make it suitable for both traditional and eclectic interiors, whether used in a study, library, or home office.
