YOU'RE ONLY OLD ONCE! A Book for Obsolete Children Dr. Seuss in HC/DJ.
You're Only Old Once.
Is this a children's book?
Well.. not immediately.
You buy a copy for your child now and you give it to him on his 70th birthday.
If laughter is the best medicine, then You're Only Old Once! is a delightful new defense against aging.
Anyone who has ever submitted to a battery of medical tests will empathize with Dr.
Seuss's Everyman in this wry book. In it we follow our hapless hero through his checkup with the experts at the Golden Years Clinic. From the initial Eyesight and Solvency Test-
HAVE YOU ANY IDEA HOW MUCH MONEY
THESE TESTS ARE
COSTING YOU?
-through all the stops along Stethoscope Row to finally being
"properly pilled" and "properly billed," Dr. Seuss lightens the aches and pains of growing old with his inimitable wit and wisdom.
While you're waiting for your child to turn 70, why not test-run You're Only Old Once! on an obsolete child now?
THEODOR SEUSS GEISEL, known to his millions of fans around the world as Dr. Seuss, celebrated his 82nd birthday on March 2, 1986, with the publication of You're Only Old Once!
Though all of his previous 44 books have been classified as children's books, the satiric social commentaries in many of them-The Butter Battle Book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, The Lorax, and Yertle the Turtle, to name a few-have won him countless adult fans.
Since 1957, when he launched Beginner Books with The Cat in the Hat, he has been credited with bringing fun into the process of learning to read.
Long considered a national treasure, Dr. Seuss has been honored by seven universities with doctorates in literature and fine arts and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation in 1984. His books have won virtually every children's book award and his work in film two Emmys and a Peabody Award. (Three films that he wrote but did not produce were Academy Award winners.) In addition to his many imaginative book characters, he will also be remembered for his film creation "Gerald McBoing-Boing" and, to those whose memories go back to mos-quito-infested summer nights of the 1940s, the advertising campaign
"Quick, Henry! The Flit!"
Theodor Seuss Geisel died on September 24, 1991, at his home in La Jolla, California. He was 87 years
