Alfred Cunningham was active in Northern California from the 1950's through the 1970's. He exhibited widely and with success and was artist-in-residence at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. Cunningham was an elected member of numerous artist organizations including the Marin Society of Artists, the Marin Watercolor Society, the Peninsula Outdoor Painters and the Watercolor Artists of San Francisco.
