The exquisite quality of the framing is an indication of the stature and wealth of the Davis family. Young John is pictured wearing a deep green jacket decorated with a long ruby red sash which serves to bring the eye into the painting. Both the painting and the frame are in very good original condition. It is unusual to find this type of portrait still united with its original frame as this type of frame was frequently pirated for use as a mirror. See less
