It comes in a magnificent carved heavy gilt wood frame, and we confess that is what attracted us to the piece. Documentation on the back gives the artist full name as Stanley Brust, and some sleuthing brought us this mention in his obituary "He was a Tank Commander, 42nd Tank Battalion in WW2. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a liberator of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp." Let's hope that painting women and flowers and nature brought him joy and peace in his twilight years.
