This icon depicts the Pentecost, also known as the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. The Greek inscription at the top of the icon, "Η ΚΑΘΟΔΟΣ ΑΓΙΟΝ ΠΝΕΥΜΑ," translates to "The Descent of the Holy Spirit". This event, described in the Book of Acts (Acts 2:1-4), commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus, fifty days after the Resurrection. This beautiful piece is in good original condition. This painting is very well done and it is in good condition according to its age. From the 19th Century. Very well kept. The original color of the wood has been preserved. This painting is done with attention to every detail. Amazing art pieces. Wonderful interior decoration.
