Antique 19th century fire screen, pare-feu, in the form of a peacock's tail, sometimes referred to as a fan fire guard. Made of brass with openwork detail to the 'feathers' from the mid to late Victorian, art nouveau, period. It can fold completely for easy storage and has an arm to lock it all securely in place.
It is a beautiful piece for any home with an open fireplace, either as a screen for the fire or left open in summer in the empty fireplace to ass antique detail to the room.
One of the sheets has some discolouration from the heat.
