Panel features a kneeling saint (or possibly Christ) in prayer as an angel appears from the heavens bearing a chalice. Billowing clouds separate the earthly and divine realms, while dense foliage frames the scene, adding texture and depth. The male figure is shown with a flowing robe highlighted in red and gold, the surface enhanced with original gilt and polychrome decoration. The work is presented within an integral baroque-style frame, carved with scrolling accents and touched with gilding, typical of Spanish Colonial religious art. These panels were often commissioned for churches, convents, or chapels. See less
