This Vintage Sligh-Lowry Chinoiserie Kneehole Writing Desk with Red Tooled Leather Top is a rare and commanding piece with vintage character and lots of ornamentation, ready to grace a library, study, or other design-forward interior.
Deep black wood frame with black lacquer finished with a trio of inset red leather panels that are bordered with gilt tooling
Chinoiserie decoration in raised gilt and vibrant enamel, depicting pagodas, floral motifs, and whimsical figures
Designed in the kneehole style with a central writing drawer flanked by two banks of three drawers each, with dovetailed construction and original brass pulls
Desk's sides are adorned with large painted scenes, including floral sprays and rendered figures in garden settings
This is a beautifully preserved vintage desk that is sturdy and highly usable. The black laquer finish shows light wear along the edges and corners, commensurate with age. The read leather top has age-consistent minor fading, craqueture, and small surface marks
