This Vintage Egyptian Kilim, measuring 9'7" by 13'11", is handwoven with wool on a cotton foundation in the Fustat region of the Nile Delta, featuring modern designs. Kilims and flat weaves are pile-free rugs created by tightly interlacing warp and weft threads to form a smooth, flat surface. Typically crafted on horizontal looms, this technique results in precise geometric patterns. Lighter and softer than traditional pile rugs, kilims have been used as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, tablecloths, wall hangings, and as insulation against harsh cold.
