Mirror is framed in carved giltwood with beaded detail and a contrasting ebonized inner ring. The original convex mercury glass plate has developed a striking aged patina, characteristic of its period, adding depth and charm. Round mirror features old metal label, "C. NOSOTTI, Carver & Gilder Upholsterer & Cabinet Maker, 398 & 399 Oxford St", linking the mirror to the prestigious London firm of Carlos Nosotti. Convex mirrors were highly fashionable during 19th century London and admired for their ability to reflect an entire room in a single glance.
