This striking Jugendstil wine ewer features a tapering conical form with stylized scrollwork and rests on scrolled feet. The hinged lid is surmounted by a finely cast bust of Athena (Minerva) in a crested helmet, blending neoclassical revival imagery with elegant Art Nouveau design. Marked with WMF’s ostrich hallmark, “I/O” for high-quality plating, and “OX” oxidized finish. A dramatic and highly collectible centerpiece of early 20th-century German silverplate craftsmanship.
