This is a beautiful handwoven linen classic American homespun check. It has a center seam on the front and back, all of the same blue check. The initials ALR are embroidered in red on the bottom near the opening. It has mother-of-pearl button closures. This is a really beautiful piece discovered in New Hampshire.

This comes from the archives of Deirdre Coughlin, founder of Phoebe’s Closet. She specializes in antique textiles and sold them to many New York City Designers including Ralph Lauren (that’s how I know her,) Charlotte Moss, Martha Stewart, and Schumacher, among many others.
