This high quality studio ceramic art vase was handcrafted in the famous Worpswede artists' colony in Northern Germany, near the city of Bremen. The impressive bottle-shaped vessel was created by a yet undefined ceramist in 1979. It is monogrammed on the underside. Its glaze and shape play with striking design elements of the Art Deco and Art Nouveau.
The Worpswede community of artists, designers and architects was founded at the end of the 19th century. Over the years the place became home to numerous important painters, ceramists sculptors of Art Nouveau, Impressionism, and Expressionism including Heinrich Vogeler, Bernhard Hoetger or Otto Meier.
In addition to their interest in light, rural motifs and striking landscapes, the artists' "escape from the city" was also driven by romantic longings for rural idyll and a simple, natural life. This piece has an attribution mark,
