A striking vintage still life by Zaza Meuli (Italian–American, b. 1892), known for her vibrant impressionist and abstract compositions created with bold palette knife techniques. This original oil on masonite painting showcases a lush bouquet of flowers in a terracotta vase, rendered in rich, layered colors of deep reds, blues, purples, and whites. The artist’s heavy impasto technique creates a dramatic three-dimensional surface, allowing the floral arrangement to burst with texture and energy.
The piece is signed lower right Zaza and retains its original gallery label from Art-O-Rama Galleries, New Rochelle, NY, noting the title “Mixed Flowers.” The label also documents Meuli’s artistic background, including studies in Paris, London, Italy, and America.
Presented in its original vintage wood frame with linen liner and gilt trim, complementing the bold palette and textured surface.
Zaza Meuli (Italian/American, b. 1892) studied in Paris, London, Italy and America. Her impressionist work in palette knife form has attracted a wide array of collectors.
A beautiful example of Zaza Meuli’s floral still lifes, embodying the expressive impasto style that made her work highly collectible.
